The Role (Profile Summary)
The Senior Business PM manages the Business Transformation team and other key resources against project and programmes plans to deliver and execute key milestones and tasks with quality in full and on time. Manages risks and issues to resolution by co-ordination of activities and resourcing, acts as a key support to Business Process Owners (BPOs) and Product Directors.
The Responsibility (Key Performance Areas)
• Plan and monitor Portfolio Business activity
• Schedule and run Portfolio Governance forums for Business Transformation Team
• Plan and coordinate Business Transformation resource management and activities within a Portfolio, Pillar or Release
• Collaborate with the Business Project Managers (BPMs) in other Portfolios to identify and mitigate resource or other conflicts, escalate to BPOs, Product Directors and BD Business Transformation as needed
• Coordinate and manage the Business Plan against the overall Programme Delivery Plans working with the Programme delivery team, form a strong relationship with the Programme Manager and their Senior PMs
• Acts as the day-to-day mediator in resolving issues and mitigating risks, has responsibility that where solution gaps are identified during design phase the BPM will work with the business and stakeholders to find alternatives without impacting the overall project objectives, timelines and overall scope
• Ensure the required business resources are available for planned activities including, but not limited to, any testing resources (e.g. Store Colleagues / other Superusers) or EUT
• Cascade Portfolio related communications to Portfolio Stakeholders, aligned to wider communications strategy
• Schedule and manage the completion of ad-hoc project requests required of business users / SME’s
• Act as a conduit for information exchange between the business and IT
• FPOC (first point of contact) for Transformation team or business resources to raise questions and escalate relating to resource planning or key activities, highlight concerns, issues or risks to Pillar/Portfolio Leadership team
• Monitoring & reporting project progress from business tasks perspective - Manage the MPP project plan relevant tasks
• Ensure that business tasks are delivered on time and are of a desired quality
• Responsible for ensuring “quality control” and best practice governance is applied to all “business facing” documentation and plans including but not limited to BRDs/FDDs/UAT test plans/ Training plans / Change Impact Analysis
• Responsible for completing “impact analysis” for the Programme delivery plan and manages the risks/issues log from a Business perspective, is responsible to develop mitigation plans accordingly.
• Attends and/or leads key project meetings as per the cadence set by the Project management framework – including Design reviews, Design authority, Change control etc.
• Obtain business approvals and sign offs for key project artifacts
• Facilitating attendance and accommodation booking for key events
The Person (Knowledge, Experience and Skills)
• Familiar with and experience of key project methodologies (PMP or Prince 2 certified preferred)
• Preferably, past experience of managing packaged software implementation projects (Eg. Oracle Retail Xstore, SIM and/or IBM Sterling OMS), covering “Stores & Customers” portfolio (Store POS, Store Inventory and Omnichannel OMS)
• A background in a commercial relevant discipline a distinct advantage

• +7 years’ experience in project management is mandatory
• A current Senior or “ready now” Project Manager – used to and experience of leading in large scale projects/programmes
• Demonstrable experience of project delivery in a retail environment
• A strong communicator, able to influence and challenge in a constructive way
• Able to communicate in a way that builds trust and confidence amongst peers and senior stakeholders
• Demonstrable ability and experience of managing and influencing in a matrix structure, upwards, across and downwards
• Demonstrates both a structured and detailed approach
• A decision maker, confident to take difficult decisions and represent them to the wider team of stakeholders or community
• An advocate of best practice approach to Project management but flexible and adaptable to the changing needs of the Portfolio
• A customer first approach, confident and experienced in interacting in a multi-functional / multi discipline environment
• Can evidence a clear approach to prioritization to manage conflicts and complexity
• Knowledge of MPP and project methodologies / qualifications e.g. Prince 2 an advantage
